Three exciting events have converged to make right now an exciting time. Most important, the Oquirrh Mountain Temple is being dedicated this weekend. One of my sons-in-law is singing in the choir and since my husband and I will be working in the new temple we’ve been undergoing training which began when the open house ended. We’re also excited to have tickets for one of the first dedication services. The next big event for me is my new book is finished, edited, a cover has been chosen, and it’s off to be printed. Third, my work in progress is in my editor’s hands and I’m beginning the anxious wait to see if it is accepted.
It may come as a surprise to most people, but authors don’t get a lot of say on either the title or the cover of their books. We wait, nervously chewing our fingernails, to find out what title has been chosen to grace our offerings and what the cover is going to look like. Most of the time I’ve been satisfied with both and a few times my publisher has actually kept my working title for the book’s official title. This time I had nothing to do with either. Shudder fits , but doesn’t even come close to my working title--Until Forever. I didn’t have so much as a hint what the artists were working on for my cover. I wasn’t certain I liked it at first, but it has grown on me. Maybe it’s the eyes; they don’t look scared enough. Anyway I’m pleased to give you a preview of my new book. Drum roll, please!
I’ll post the first chapter on my web page shortly. My daughter, Janice, is my webmaster and she has pneumonia, so needless to say, I won’t be pressuring her to hurry. The book has almost six weeks until its release date so there’s plenty of time. In the meantime, tell me what you think of my new cover.

Even though the eyes on the cover might not be frightened enough, the cover itself really grabs my attention and makes me want to pick up the book and find out what it's all about.
By the way, after having so many books published, do you really still get anxious to see if the next one is accepted?
This cover looks very intriguing, Jennie. Congrats on the new book. =)
Congrats, Jennie! Very intriguing and eye-catching cover.
That cover looks great! I can't wait to read it.
Yes, Melanie, I've never gotten over worrying about whether or not a manuscript will be accepted, if it will require extensive rewrites, and if anyone will buy it. I think I was born with a worry gene.
I'm glad to hear so many encouraging comments about the cover. Thanks!
Jennie,
I feel the same way. I wait and worry every time I send in a manuscript. It makes me feel a bit better knowing that someone I admire and respect so much (YOU) feels the same way. I think the book looks incredible and I can't wait to read it!
Wow! Definitely looks like a mystery - even though that wasn't your intent. Can't wait to read it!
